South Of Scotland Enterprise Announce Plans To Recruit Modern Apprentices

As Scottish Apprenticeship Week takes place this week, South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) have announced plans to employ a total of 12 Modern Apprentices and intern placements as part of an ambitious recruitment drive to be rolled out in the coming months.

Six Modern Apprenticeship opportunities will be open to all young people across the South of Scotland, and those who are successful will have the chance to work across several directorates in SOSE to help them deliver on a range of diverse projects. There will also be six intern placements which we hope to recruit over the summer months.

Modern Apprenticeships give anyone over the age of 16 the opportunity to work in a paid job while undertaking workplace training to gain new and enhanced skills and recognised qualifications.

Imogen Heard, former apprentice and Digital Media Officer at SOSE added:

“I think it is fantastic that SOSE are looking to appoint Modern Apprentices and offer new career opportunities to young people living in this rural region,
“Before I joined SOSE, I completed two apprenticeships achieving SCQF qualifications in Business & Administration and Digital Marketing. I believe the skills from my previous apprenticeships have allowed me to further my career and join SOSE, and this shows the apprenticeships equip us with not only the right skills, but with transferable skills.
“I would say the positives of being an apprentice are mainly being able to learn new life skills, while physically doing a job which develops these. This not only benefitted me, but also my employer.

Since South of Scotland Enterprise was launched on 1 April last year, the agency has approved over £22m in support for almost 400 business and organisations across the region.
