South Of Scotland Enterprise Seeks New Talent To Join Its Growing Team

The Enterprise Agency for the South of Scotland (SOSE) has today launched an ambitious recruitment drive to recruit over 30 members of staff.

The new appointments will strengthen its current team of 80, to over 100 employees, boosting its capacity to support businesses and communities across the South of Scotland and drive forward SOSE’s strategy and action plan.

The variety of roles, to be advertised over the coming weeks, include roles in strategy development, business development, economic infrastructure, energy and community development. There will also be the opportunity for young people in the region to apply for several apprenticeship roles and 6 intern roles. These posts will work across several directorates and will help deliver a range of diverse projects.

SOSE is urging anyone with an interest in any of the roles, to keep an eye out on its social media feeds and on where https://www.sosecareers.com all the roles will be posted over the coming weeks.

Professor Russel Griggs OBE, Chair of SOSE said: “We have been steadily building an ambitious team at SOSE since our launch last year. We are making great progress, but we want to do more, and achieve more for the region, so we are ready to welcome more talent from, and into the South of Scotland.
While we are looking for a range of skills and experiences that suite each of the roles available, the most important factor is that candidates embody and can live SOSE’s values which are: inclusive, responsible, striving, and bold.”

Jane Morrison-Ross, Chief Executive of SOSE, said: “We are here to do great things WITH the people of the South – to deliver lasting change in the South of Scotland, and we are looking to build a strong team to help us deliver this.

“If you share SOSE’s vision and purpose, then I would strongly encourage you to apply and I look forward to personally welcoming the successful candidates when they join our growing team. “

Garry Legg, Strategy & Planning Manager, said: “It is great to be part of an organisation that’s relatively new and is still growing, to feel valued, and be given a chance to help shape how we are evolving and doing things.

“Much of our work is outward looking – that means working in partnership, meeting new people, and achieving things together.
The time is now for the South of Scotland – there has never been a better chance to make a real and lasting difference, and it will be great to look back and know I have been a part of that.”

Richard Smith, Business Development Specialist added: “In my role I work with a variety of organisations of different sizes, trading across all sectors in the South of Scotland.

“The diversity of my client portfolio is what makes my job interesting day today, but it also offers me the fantastic opportunity to positively influence businesses, and the communities they are based in throughout the region. “

Since SOSE was launched on 1 April last year, the agency has approved over £22m in support for almost 400 business and organisations across the region
