Top Scottish Boutique Hotel is in Portpatrick

A Portpatrick Hotel  has been named the “Top Boutique Hotel” in Scotland at a national hospitality awards ceremony held in Glasgow this week.

The Mount Stewart Hotel was awarded the accolade at the Hotel Awards Scotland 2019, topping a list of nominations which included some of the best known establishments in the country.

The Mount Stewart’s owner, Diane Hunter, commented :  “We are thrilled and honoured to scoop this prestigious, national title.     It is a tribute to what works we have done at the Mount Stewart, our valued customers, our team at the hotel and especially to the village of Portpatrick”

The Mount Stewart was shortlisted for the award after nominations by customers and then judged by hotel industry experts.   It was initially named top Boutique Hotel in the South West of Scotland before scooping the national title, which was announced at a Gala Night at the Glasgow Marriot Hotel last Tuesday (01/10/2019)

Ms Hunter explained her original vision for the Mount Stewart: “Our totally unique setting told us we had the basis to provide something completely different to anything else.     So we have aimed to blend a sophisticated, stylish design decor with a traditional Scottish setting – we think a chic, contempary vibe has been coupled with our passion for attention to detail, ultimate service, perfect food and total customer satisfaction.
We wanted intimacy and individuality, so we focused on layout concentrating on our breathtaking sea views and lofty perch overlooking one of Scotland’s most picturesque fishing harbours.
Then we included our elegant dining areas,a vogue bar, individual classy and sumptuous bedroom suites, with their spacious bathrooms, our all year round outside areas and even a baby grand piano to welcome diners”
However, Ms Hunter maintains one of the most important reasons for the success is the hotel’s location in Portpatrick.    She says:  “It is a stunning village, which offers so much yet a lot of people in Scotland and further afield do not know of it’s existence.   We hope winning this award will help to put Portpatrick firmly on the map as a holiday destination”
