The Directors of Carsphairn Community Woodland are delighted to announce that the Scottish Land Fund (SLF) have awarded us a substantial grant towards the community asset transfer!
This, along with a discount awarded by Forestry and Land Scotland and local funding from CREFL, will allow the Community to take ownership of 120 acres of Muirdrochwood Forest for the benefit of local residents and visitors.
This award will allow Carsphairn Community Woodland to buy 120 acres of Muirdrochwood Forest in order to deliver long term benefits to the community including employment, recreation, education and training.
A Spokesperson Carsphairn Community Woodland from Said “We still have to be patient – the process of transferring ownership could take up to 6 months – we will post updates as it progresses!
Meanwhile, anyone residing in Carsphairn Community can become a member and get involved in the project, while those beyond this area can also get involved as a supporter / volunteer and enjoy the benefits of the woodland. Email enquiries can be made to: [email protected].”
John Watt, Scottish Land Fund Committee Chair said: “From supporting community centres in towns and villages to giving funding to projects that turn woodland into places of recreation and employment, the Scottish Land Fund is strengthening both rural and urban communities right across the country.”
