Devil’s Porridge Museum Marks Armed Forces Day

The team at The Devil’s Porridge Museum took part in an event in Carlisle on Saturday 26th June to mark Armed Forces Day.  They were invited by Carlisle Council to have a stall in the central market square on the day set aside to commemorate the efforts and achievements of the members of the services.

“This is the second time we’ve taken part in this annual event,” commented Judith Hewitt, Museum Manager, “and we are so pleased to be able to speak with the public about our museum and the incredible stories that we share from both World Wars.  We’re pleased that the work of the people of this area is being remembered as part of this important event.  We managed to speak with people who had family connections with the World War One munitions factory as well as with people who had never visited us but were looking for a great day out with the kids during the summer holidays.  Our team of volunteers did a great job promoting the Museum and even got to meet the Mayor.”

The Museum is open daily and if you pay once and Gift Aid your ticket, you can return for free for the entire year.
