Kirkcudbright Rotarians Walk To The Rescue Of Those In Need

The ShelterBox Organisation was started by Rotarians and act as early responding experts in emergency shelter after disaster. They often work in places that others don’t, ensuring that they reach families who need support and take the next step in resuming their livelihoods.

Some dedicated Kirkcudbright Rotarians decided to mark the 20th Birthday of the ShelterBox organisation in February by walking chilly 20 miles and seeking sponsorship for this from their friends. To meet current COVID-19 restrictions the walks were all done locally in four 5-mile sections, with full social distancing. The support was brilliant and well over £700 was raised which was more than enough to fund the cost of a fully equipped ShelterBox.

ShelterBox have provided shelter to over 150,000 people in 2020 – this good work continues.
