Midges and Rain Can’t Stop The ‘Hike for Nith’

Intrepid fundraisers Evan Keir and Ryan Carroll are currently hiking 214 miles along the Southern Upland Way to raise funds for Nith Inshore Rescue.

This charity holds dear to both Evan, who is trainee crew member, and Ryan who wish
to help pay for the equipment needed to keep the crew and public safe.

The commenced the hike on the 18th of June from the West coast at Portpatrick and will finish on the East coast at Cocksburnpath on Monday 5th July. The hike is going to take 18 consecutive days, on some of Scotland’s most demanding terrain and they’ll be carrying all of the items required to stop and make camp every night.

On Tuesday 29th June Evan & Ryan will be met at St Mary’s Loch, near to the Sailing Club about 17:00, by members of the Nith Inshore Rescue crew who will convey them across the loch in one the small inshore boats and do a live feed on social media at that time.
Monday 5th July will be the final day of the hike with the pair arriving at Cockburnspath about 17:00. They will then arrive at the lifeboat station as the final part of their journey about 19:30/20:00 where they will meet up with a very grateful Nith Rescue Crew.

There are 180750 trillion midges in Scotland, and I think most of them have bitten me.

This is a mammoth feat by these 2 very generous young gentlemen and we would be grateful for media
