The hills are calling, and adventure awaits! With less than two weeks remaining to register, the Moffat Mountain Rescue Team (MMRT) is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Charity Challenge is shaping up to be the most exciting and impactful event in its history.
Taking place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, this year’s Charity Challenge offers four stunning routes through the breathtaking Southern Uplands of Scotland: “The Challenge” our longest route (19.4kms), a medium route (11.5kms), a short route (9kms) and a “Family Friendly” route (1.5kms circular) Whether you’re a seasoned hillwalker or a family looking for a memorable day out taking part in a medieval knight walk through semi-ancient woodland, there’s a challenge tailored just for you.
Participants will not only enjoy a day of camaraderie and natural beauty but will also be supporting a vital cause. All proceeds go directly to supporting the life-saving work of the Moffat Mountain Rescue Team, a volunteer-run organization that provides emergency assistance across Southern Scotland’s rugged terrain.

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team is a charity and relies on the generosity of public donations to maintain the kit required to carry out emergency search & rescue activities. The Charity Challenge is our main annual event to raise funds for the coming year. Moffat is one of the UK’s most stunning locations to go hillwalking and this inevitably means there may be occasions when visiting walkers or members of our community get into difficulty. Is it an honour to lead our team on callouts where they administer support and casualty care by rescuing and locating missing persons across our area of responsibility. Our annual charity challenge allows us to raise the essential funds needed to continue our work and increase awareness of our stunning landscape which has so much to offer, including perhaps a glimpse of our newly introduced eagle population.
