Walking Football: Fun Way To Improve Health For Adults Over 50 In Kirkcudbright

Walking Football in Kirkcudbright is back in session after the holiday break. The program is geared towards adults over 50 and aims to promote fitness and an active lifestyle for participants of all football abilities.

Those who participate regularly have reported benefits such as lower heart rate and blood pressure, decreased body fat, increased muscle strength and improved mobility.

Each session, which lasts an hour, is equivalent to a 3-mile brisk walk and burns roughly 500 calories. It’s not only a great way to stay in shape, but it’s also a social and friendly activity with a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Players have described it as “great fun” and a chance to meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and share a laugh.

Sessions are held at Saint Cuthbert Wanderers football pitch on Monday evenings and Thursday lunchtimes.
