£200,000 Funding For Sanquhar’s A’ the Airts Community Art Centre Expansion

Staff and board members at A’ the Airts Community Art Centre received a £200,000 cheque from the Holywood Trust, presented by Clare Hanna from the Trust, towards the extension of their premises in High Street Sanquhar.

The team are very grateful to the Holywood Trust. Yvonne Barber Centre Manager said ‘We have been working closely with the Holywood Trust for several years, developing our offer to the community and our young people.
Our current space is no longer meeting the needs of our young people and our community. To have the additional space will ensure that young people have space to thrive and grow skills in hospitality, arts crafts.
We are passionate about giving the young people of Upper Nithsdale experience of activities that enhance their education and wellbeing.
The extension will also benefit the wider community in that we can offer more events and classes for higher numbers of people’.
William Waugh, A’ the Airts Chairperson, said ‘Our community will benefit from the extension, and it will improve the High Street by bringing another building back into use. The Trust have always been supportive of A’ the Airts, but to receive such a huge amount of money is just such a boost to our Centre and our community. We thank the Holywood Trust for their support.’
