Congratulations Upper Nithsdale’s P7!

A’ the Airts Community Art Centre currently has an exhibition from the P7 children from both Kelloholm and Sanquhar Primary Schools. This is now on display in the gallery at A’ the Airts, 8-12 High Street, Sanquhar.

The theme was ‘Life During Lockdown’.  Sponsored by the Regional Arts Fund, each P7 student was given a painting kit and a set of brushes to produce their work.

Each school had an overall winner judged by local artist Dougie Sharp. Dougie was very impressed by the effort that the children put into their work.

The winner for Kelloholm is Ruby Jamieson, and for Sanquhar Riley Renwick. Both received a 126-piece artist starter kit. Congratulations to both.

Yvonne Barber, Centre Manager at A’ the Airts, said the pictures capture everything we have all experienced during lockdown, from celebrating the NHS for their valiant efforts, the isolation of not seeing friends and family, along with having quality time to spend in the garden and with parents.  She would like to thank the teachers for helping the children to produce the work.

The exhibition is free to enter, social distancing rules apply.
