Crawick Multiverse shortlisted for Business Creativity Award

World-class artland, Crawick Multiverse, has been shortlisted for a Business Creativity Award at the Arts & Business Scotland Awards 2017.

These awards aim to celebrate excellence in innovative relationships between the cultural and business sectors with the Business Creativity category focusing on partnerships which have commercially impacted the wider community. Creating a valuable resource for the local community and stimulating the local economy were amongst the aims when the 55-acre Crawick Multiverse was created.

Duncan Mackison, chief operations officer at Buccleuch Estates, said: “It is an honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.

“We have welcomed more than 18,000 visitors to the site so far and we hope that by being shortlisted for awards like this we will raise awareness of the Crawick Multiverse and attract even more people to Dumfries and Galloway.

“This vast artland is a unique attraction to Scotland and as well as stimulating interest in both the arts and science, it is a tourist attraction that draws a diverse audience from walkers and photographers to school groups.”

Arts & Business Scotland (A&BS) exists to put business into culture and creativity into business by advocating the value of cross-sectoral partnerships to encourage collaborative working.

A&BS Chief Executive David Watt said: “This year’s shortlist is a fantastic reflection of the innovation and creativity which exists between the cultural and business sectors, contributing to a thriving and vibrant cultural offering here in Scotland.

“Throughout the judging process what was abundantly clear was the value that cultural organisations bring to both rural and urban communities though their social and economic impacts. It is hugely encouraging therefore to see such a diverse range of businesses demonstrating a willingness to support this activity in Scotland.”

The winners will be announced at the 30th Annual Arts and Business Awards Ceremony taking place in March at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
