Upper Nithsdale community arts centre continues its programme of art and music for August with a return visit from a popular singer songwriter, a showcase of work by a local art group and an exhibition linked to Charles Jencks’ nearby major land art project, Crawick Multiverse.
The Multiverse exhibition is currently running in the small craft room on the first floor of A’ the Airts. It includes some original artwork used by Jencks during the planning of the artland, plus two original costumes by Alex Rigg which were worn by the performers during the official launch event in June. Information boards and a 3D model of the Multiverse are also on display.
UK-based French/Swiss singer songwriter, Claude Bourbon, is renowned for his individual and talented take on a wide range of musical traditions and he comes to A’ the Airts in Sanquhar on Sunday, August 23 at 7.30pm. Based in the UK, Claude is known throughout Europe and America for his breath-taking song and guitar performances that take blues, Spanish, Middle Eastern and Russian stylings into uncharted territories.

The annual exhibition of affordable art by A’ the Airts’ own art group members, showcasing their recent work takes place between now and 25 August. All the members of the group are self-taught amateur artists with an average of three years’ experience and demonstrate wide and varied range of styles.
The art sessions at A’ the Airts take place on Thursday and Friday afternoons each week and provide a space for artists of all abilities to be creative amongst a group of people who share a common love of art. This is a highly sociable group and new members will be made welcome.
