Young Dumfries Producer Allison Scores Top Placement


Electric Theatre Workshop Associate, Allison McLellan gets place on UK’s top Producing Course 

Allison (22) has been accepted onto the Entertainment and Music Management degree at the Paul McCartney School in Liverpool, formally known as the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

From Lochside, Dumfries, Allison first started with Electric Theatre Workshop in 2013 as a back to work placement.  She progressed through the company, and then completed a Modern Apprenticeship in Event Administration, working with incoming artists and companies as part of the Big Burns Supper Festival, which takes place in January.

She has also just been offered a role with Assembly Productions in a Box Office Management role, working on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which will take place this summer.

Allison follows a string of Associate Artists who are getting places in some the UK’s top schools, including Dillon Colthart who got into the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and Jordan Chisholm who got a place at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

 

Allison, who starts the course in September said;

” Working for the organisation has been a life changing experience and it has helped me unlock my potential. It has also helped me see my local town in a whole new light.  I am much more passionate about my community and I have got to meet hundreds of new friends, from all walks of life.”

” We are immensely proud of Allison, and her recent success is because she worked extremely hard, and has all the makings of being a very capable arts administrator.  She is a credit to her local town.’’

 

The Associate Artist Programme is Scotland’s only live work based entry to the Creative Industries – and each year students work alongside top practitioners to deliver high profile work.  So far over 38 Young people have worked with the organisation to develop their skills in performing arts, marketing or as producers.
