Castle Douglas Photographer Kim Ayres Is UK’s Overall Winner In The Eisa Maestro Competition

Castle Douglas based photographer, Kim Ayres, will be representing the UK at the International round of the pan-European EISA (Expert Imaging and Sound Association) Maestro competition, when the winner is announced next month.

Kim submitted his black and white, close up portraits into the UK round on the theme “Faces”, and was delighted to find he was the UK’s overall winner. His images will go on to compete against the winners in 15 other countries.

Kim told DGWGO “I’ve always had a love for moody black and white portraiture, Faces become so much more interesting when we move away from feeling the need to ‘smile for the camera'”

For those interested in improving their photographic skills, Kim has been running a free live video podcast on Facebook every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm since the original Lockdown in early 2020. For more information, find him on FB at @kimayresphotography
