Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2017 Winners’ Exhibition Held at Dalbeattie

The winning images from the 8th annual Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year competition opens its tour at The Lever Gallery in Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway this month. The competition attracted entries from professional and amateur photographers from around the world and also presented Awards for junior photographers (under-18s) and for students undertaking a photography element in their course.

 

This collection of images showcases the winning photographers’ diverse interpretations of wildlife, landscape, environmental, botanical and abstract subjects in Scotland, selected by the judging panel – Andy Hall, Polly Pullar and Niall Irvine.

 

The title of Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2017 was awarded to professional photographer Stephen Whitehorne, Berwickshire, for his image Autumnal Birches and Willows reflected among the Water Lilies of Polney Loch, Dunkeld, Perthshire.

 

The exhibition includes a presentation of the Scottish Nature Video Award 2017 for short films on a nature, wildlife or landscape theme shot in Scotland.

Admission to the exhibition is free. Open 12md – 5pm daily (closed Sundays).
