STRANRAER PREPARES FOR A COLOURFUL SPRING FLING WEEKEND OF FUN

Photography, music, eco-friendly food and more in store for Scotland’s premier open studios visual art and craft event

There will be music, food and fabulous photography in Stranraer this weekend as part of the region-wide Spring Flint open studios event.
The centrepiece will be an exhibition at The Grainstore, 9 Bridge Street, by special guest, Laurie Campbell, a photographer from Northern Ireland who is known for her powerful images of animals, plants and landscapes.
On Saturday from 6pm to 8pm there will be the chance to enjoy the wonderful acoustic sounds of Angela Whitelaw and Kyle Anderson.
This follows a visit by Running on Empty, the black cab converted to run on used cooking oil which is touring the region serving up meals prepared on the spot using many local ingredients.
There will also be an art trail which people can have fun following round Stranraer – they simply need to pick up a map at the Grainstore. There will be a competition linked to the art trail offering the chance to win one of Laurie’s pieces.
Leah Black, Spring Fling Director, said: “The Grainstore is a fantastic venue and it’s great that it will be the focus of so much activity during the Spring Fling weekend. We really hope that people will come along and join in.
“Laurie’s photography is stunning – it really grabbed our attention with its sophistication and power. Dumfries and Galloway has some superb photographers and her exhibition will stand beside them very well.
“Northern Ireland is one of our closest neighbours and we are very pleased to be strengthening the artistic links between us and also hope to welcome more visitors than ever to join us for Spring
