FOR 1 NIGHT ONLY ‘A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE’ HEADS TO THE THEATRE ROYAL, DUMFRIES

Inspire Theatre will bring the Tennessee Williams Classic ‘A streetcar Named Desire’ to Scottish audiences in the first of 3 touring productions in 2016.

Theatre Royal Dumfries – Thursday 24th March 2016, 7.30pm

Fading southern belle Blanche DuBois is adrift in the modern world. When she arrives to stay with her sister Stella in a crowded, boisterous corner of New Orleans, her delusions of grandeur bring her into conflict with Stella’s crude, brutish husband Stanley Kowalski. Their violent collision course threatens to destroy Blanche’s fragile sense of identity, sanity and her one chance of happiness.

This production, directed by Graeme Dallas, will see Giga Gray as the fragile and broken Blanche DuBois and Caley Chaney in the role of her torn sister Stella while David Alexander depicts the dark and disturbed Stanley.

Supported by a wonderful cast of accomplished and talented performers, who bring real truth and depth to each and every character.

‘We are thrilled to be bringing this classic piece to Audience across Scotland and to be working in some new and exciting venues this year. ‘Streetcar’ is one of those exceptional works that is still as relevant and interesting now as it was when Williams penned it in 1947. It is a personal favourite of mine and this wonderful cast create a captivating and enthralling theatre experience not to be missed’

Elaine Buie – Artistic Director
