SUPPORT GROWS FOR ‘MADE IN WIGTOWNSHIRE’

MSP for the South of Scotland Aileen McLeod is backing “Made in Wigtownshire” – a new website launched in January to promote artists and producers in Wigtownshire raise awareness of Wigtownshire as a holiday destination, with the aim of bringing money into the local economy.

Made in Wigtownshire is described as a brand which “aims to show our best face to the rest of the world whether as a creative, entrepreneurial place to live or a great place for a family holiday.”

Aileen said:

“Made in Wigtownshire is a fantastic idea and I hope it really takes off. Wigtownshire and Galloway as a whole is home to such a rich diversity of artists, crafters, food & drink producers and creative folk – we really need to promote this to a wider audience.

“Couple that with Wigtownshire’s outstanding natural environment, from the Galloway Hills, the Dark Skies Park and the Biosphere, to the stunning coastline with its beautiful villages and sites of historical interest that there is so much for visitors to do and see that one visit simply won’t be enough.

“We can all help ‘Made in Wigtownshire’ get to a wider audience. Pass on the website link to your friends and if you’re on social media share and like their pages. I’m very fortunate to know a number of the folk who are already publicising their work through ‘Made in Wigtownshire’ and I wholeheartedly support the idea.”
