Time to Shine for Dumfries & Galloway young theatre makers.

Brand new co-production between Electric Theatre Workshop, Scottish Youth Theatre and Theatre Royal Dumfries is the start of a new partnership aimed at young theatre makers

Scottish Youth Theatre have presented young people in Dumfries and Galloway with an exciting new opportunity in theatre devising which will give young people aged 16 to 21 years the chance to work with industry professionals in acting and directing, to create the beginning of a new and exciting piece of theatre. The project is being delivered by Scottish Youth Theatre with local partners

It will encourage young people who are interested in the creative industries to get together and work alongside local like minded people within the arts. Working alongside Electric Theatre Workshop and the newly refurbished Theatre Royal Dumfries, Scottish Youth Theatre are encouraging anyone interested in performance and creative arts to apply here before the 24th of February

Graham Main, Artistic Director of Electric Theatre Workshop said: ‘’Our cultural sector has gone through a massive transformation in the last six years, and it is important that young people can contribute to it. The Time to Shine opportunity gives young people just the chance to do that. It will be great to see what new friendships are born out of the project.
The project is the first time that young people from the entire region will get the chance to work together as a whole company.

“We are a massive region, and we want to see what happens every now and then we unite people”, says Graham

The project takes place over the course of a weekend, beginning Saturday 5th of March 2016 and ends Sunday 6th of March at The Cairndale Hotel, Dumfries.

The course is completely free and accommodation will be provided Saturday night, alongside catering in the evening and Sunday morning. Transport will also be available to those who need it from set locations.

This project will bring together young people who are interested in the creative and performance arts from all across Dumfries and Galloway and is the first time that all young theatre makers have the chance to come together.
Interested young people should apply via the SYT website
