£11,000 WORTH OF PLANT MACHINERY STOLEN – DUMFRIES

Police Scotland is carrying out investigations into two high value thefts in the Irongray Road and Newton Road areas of Dumfries. In the first theft, six rock breakers were stolen from the premises of AMD in Newton Road in Dumfries sometime overnight Thursday 10/Friday 11 November 2016. The rock breakers have a total value of around £12,000. In a second theft, two nights later, overnight Saturday/Sunday three rock breakers, three Stihl saws and a plant compactor were all stolen from the premises of Border Civils and Utilities Ltd in Irongray Road. Total value of property stolen in this theft is in the region of £11,000.

Constable Gary Bil at Dumfries said “these two thefts occurred in the same area of the town and the property stolen was situated out in the open, albeit behind security fences. Clearly a vehicle and very probably a number of people were responsible and we are asking anyone who may have been in this area over Thursday to Sunday to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.”
