32 YEAR OLD WOMAN KILLED IN A701 COLLISION

Fatal Road Crash – A701 Parkgate

A woman has died after colliding with a heavy goods vehicle near to Parkgate village, Dumfries and Galloway on Thursday 4 February, 2016.

Around 1940 hours on Thursday 4 February 2016, a 32 year-old woman, driving a Ford Focus vehicle collided with a Scania HGV on the A701. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 43 year-old driver of the HGV was uninjured.

The road was closed until 0400 hours on Friday 5 February to allow for police enquiries.

A number of witnesses who stopped at the scene to render assistance are still to be traced and it is requested that anyone who may have information about the crash makes contact with the Divisional Roads Policing Unit at Cornwall Mount, Dumfries or alternatively contacts Police Scotland on the 101 number

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
