ADDITIONAL COVID-19 testing capacity is continuing to come online within Dumfries and Galloway – with extra dates announced for Wigtownshire.
Daily testing will be available this week in Stranraer for anyone experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus, starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway Interim Director of Public Health Valerie White said: “Additional COVID testing has now been secured for the region, and is being deployed to Stranraer.
“This is in recognition that although new cases of COVID within Wigtownshire have decreased quite markedly in recent days, rates within the area still remain high.
“We are in continual discussions with our partners nationally around securing additional testing capacity, and are pleased we can now supplement what was in place.”
Anyone in the Wigtownshire area who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, even if these are mild, is encouraged to seek a test, with access to booking available from 6.30 pm on the evening before the desired test date.
Testing will also continue to be available as usual in Newton Stewart, on Thursday January 28 at Riverside Car Park DG8 6NQ.
The additional Stranraer testing unit will be based at Ashwood House, DG9 7JJ.
