POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESS TO SERIOUS A75 ROAD CRASH

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A75 at Dumfries on Friday 4 March 2016.

Around 1735 hours, police received a report of a head on collision involving a Ford Focus motor car and a Fiat Punto motor car on the A75 near to The Pines Golf Course. The driver of the Ford car, a 58 year old man, was initially taken to the Dumfries and Galloway Hospital, however he has since been transferred to the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank, where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquires at the location. Enquiries carried out so far have revealed that the Ford Focus car may have made contact with another vehicle, which was travelling westbound on the A75, prior to the collision. The driver of that vehicle may not be aware of being struck.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the crash and officers are appealing for anyone who was at the location around the time of the incident to contact them at the Road Policing Unit in Dumfries on 101.
