Burns Nicht Goes Down well at Devils Porridge Museum

On Saturday January 25th, The Devil’s Porridge Museum at Eastriggs, Dumfries and Galloway hosted their Burns Supper.

“The event was really well attended and had a great atmosphere,” said Judith Hewitt, Museum Manager.  “We were very pleased to have some talented young dancers to start the evening’s entertainments.  The haggis was piped in by John Glendinning, a local young man.”  There were over thirty guests in attendance who enjoyed a traditional dinner of haggis, tatties and neeps while hearing the immortal words of Burns himself.

“There were lots of laughs during our Chairman, Richard Brodie’s original piece in the style of Tam O’Shanter” continued Judith, “and we were especially lucky in our special guests MSP Joan McAlpine and Ian Barr, from D&G Council and author of Jamesie Burns and the Bicycle Thieves.  They delivered great toasts to the lassies and reply from the lassies.”

This is the second year that the Museum has organised a Burns Supper and it looks set to become a permanent fixture on their event’s calendar.
