Gordon Hughes, 53 years of age, from Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment ( Friday 12th of May), having last month been found guilty after trial at Glasgow High Court for a number of sexual offences which included the rape of a female. The offences were all committed in Castle Douglas in 2015.
DI Robin Ferguson, Police Public Protection Unit commented ” The custodial sentence which Gordon Hughes received today, brings a degree of closure to what has been a very traumatic and challenging time for the victim. The crimes carried out by Hughes were committed over a short period of time, but will live with the victim for the remainder of her life”.
”Victims of sexual offences receive support from specialised Sexual Offences Liaison officers during the investigation process and offered a pathway to external support mechanisms during and after the investigation process ”.
Hughes had pled guilty before the trial to charges of voyeurism in respect of the rape victim and another woman. He will be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
