NEW COSCA COUNSELLING SKILLS TRAINING – EVENING LEARNING OPPORTUNITY

Following the launch of the new Soul Soup Training Academy earlier this month, there has been a massive surge of enquires for both the COSCA* Counselling Skills course as well as the popular professional development day courses.

Due to the demand for the new COSCA Counselling Skills course, Soul Soup is now pleased to launch evening dates to allow for more flexible learning opportunities. The course will now be delivered weekly on Monday evenings, beginning August 6th 2018. Sessions run from 18.00 – 21.00 at Soul Soup Academy, 109 Irish Street, Dumfries DG1 2NP. The dates are as follows:

Module One: Runs every Monday starting 6th August – Monday 22nd October 2018 inclusive. Module Two: Runs every Monday starting Monday 12th November 2018 – Monday 17th December inclusive. CHRISTMAS BREAK for two weeks (24th and 31st) Returns Monday 7th January 2019 – Monday 11th February 2019 inclusive Module Three: Runs every Monday starting Monday 4th March 2019 – Monday 15th April 2019 inclusive EASTER BREAK for one week (22nd April 2019) Return Monday 29th April 2019 – Monday 27th May 2019 inclusive Module Four: Runs every Monday starting Monday 17th June – Monday 2nd September inclusive.

Day courses June 2018 Soul Soup Training Academy is also pleased to present our dates for June day courses:

• Understanding Self Harm – Studied as a half-day course 10.00 – 13.00 on 11th June 2018. The course includes: the nature and extent of self-harm; risk factors; possible causes of self-harm; identifying self-harming behaviours; responding to self-harm; damage limitation; alternative coping strategies. £40 • Scottish Mental Health First Aid- For Young People – Studied as a 14-hour blended course, delivered in three parts. Classroom time 21st June 9.30 – 16.30 plus two flexible online self-study modules. The course enables adults who support or care for young people to recognise mental health problems and provide guidance
and immediate assistance to a young person in crisis. SMHFA (YP) is a nationally recognised, evidence-based course that was launched in 2013 by NHS Scotland and is delivered by a qualified SMHFA Instructor. This is £75
