CROWDS DESCEND ON DRUMLANRIG CASTLE FOR GALLOWAY COUNTRY FAIR

Crowds descended on the stunning Drumlanrig Castle today (Saturday) for the opening of this weekend’s Galloway Country Fair.

The premier country event brings together food and drink, country sports, entertainment, crafts and children’s activities.

To mark the Year of Food and Drink Scotland, the event’s ever-popular food marquee has grown considerably in size this year and features a huge variety of fresh produce.

Castle Douglas company Glen Urr is expecting its haggis ice cream and ‘neeps sorbet’ to prove particularly popular over the weekend after creating it especially for the Fair.

Other highlights include an array of entertainment in the main arena including a display from Elite Falconry; a fun duck-herding display from the Dog and Duck Show; as well as an educational and fun demonstration from The Sheep Show.

The event will also feature children’s entertainment, cookery demonstrations, an impressive craft marquee, fishing and clay shooting competition, a scurry and much more.

The Fair runs until Sunday 23 August. Find out more at www.gallwaycountryfair.co.uk
