Council Leader Elaine Murray said: “During the Covid-19 emergency, the public can watch our committee meetings from the safety and comfort of their own homes. They’ll be able to see and hear members as they discuss and decide the outcomes of Council business.”
Depute Leader Rob Davidson said: “It’s vitally important that during the Covid-19 emergency the public are still able to attend committee meetings. I’m delighted that our Council is able to offer the public the chance to join us for our webcast of meetings.”
The Council established the Covid-19 sub committee on 20 March to focus on continuing council business and additional business resulting from the coronavirus pandemic while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
The sub committee is responsible for taking decisions on urgent and important business after the announcement by the Scottish Government that no gatherings of people were to take place. These arrangements are reviewed by the sub committee monthly.
The membership of the sub committee comprises 4 councillors from the Labour/SNP Administration, 3 Conservative, 1 Independent, and 1 Socialist/Non-Affiliated. Chair is Council Leader Elaine Murray and Vice Chair is Depute Leader Rob Davidson. Committee members that can’t attend in person will be able to join virtually.
