Night-Time Event Shows off High-tech Hospital to Nurses and AHPs

Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is throwing open its doors for a special night-time event later this month – as it seeks to highlight job opportunities for registered nurses and a variety of allied health professionals (AHPs).

The £213 million Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) will see its spacious atrium thronging with people and displays on August 29, with guided tours offered to health professionals considering a move to the region’s newly-opened District General Hospital.

Anne Allison is Clinical Nurse Manager at DGRI, and she said: “We’re opening our doors to nurses and AHPs and their families, offering a taste of life in the hospital – and into what the region as a whole can offer in terms of life, work and play.
“Staff from a range of disciplines will be on hand to talk about what it’s like to work in our fantastic new high-tech hospital, and offer an insight into the warm, supportive professional culture that exists throughout NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
“In addition, there will be information on hand about wider employment opportunities for partners and spouses and the excellent quality of education in the region, as well as the sort of recreational activities on our doorstep such as world-class fishing and mountain biking, and our amazing coastlines.”

Live music, a buffet and refreshments will also feature on the night, as staff look to welcome interested health professionals from around the country.

The evening is open to any registered nurse, or an AHP such as an occupational therapist or speech and language therapist, or a student nearing registration.

Welcoming anyone with an interest to get in touch, Anne said: “We would love to show you and your family just how proud we are of our hospital, and why Dumfries and Galloway is a great place to work, live and play.”

The Open Evening takes place from 5 pm to 9 pm on August 29 at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary at Garroch Loaning, off the A75 bypass in Dumfries.
