Diabetes Service Present Medals to Patients Living with the Condition.

The Diabetes Team based at Crichton Hall welcomed two service users, who were presented with Diabetes UK medals which are awarded to people who have lived with the condition for over 50 and 60 years in recognition of the bravery and determination of living with diabetes.

The Robert Lawrence Medal is awarded to people who have lived with diabetes for 60 years and Mary Mowbray (pictured), Dennis Stroud and Elizabeth Rae who were unable to attend, received the medal (all from Dumfries).

Carol Evans (pictured from Lockerbie) and Ann Hutton (from Wigtownshire) who was unable to attend, were presented with the Alan Nabarro Medal in recognition of living with diabetes for more than 50 years.

Mary and Carol received her medal from Consultant Physician Dr Fiona Green who said:

“All the medallists will have seen the service advance and change of the 50 plus years and it is a remarkable achievement in continuing to manage their condition, and are to be congratulated for their success.”
