DIVERSIONS SET IN PLACE FOR OVERNIGHT A75 CLOSURE’S AT RAMHILL BRIDGE

TRAFFIC mayhem is to be expected in some of Dumfries and Galloway small villages and towns over the next 2 evenings as a 12 mile detour is set in place forcing lorries and vehicles to divert off  the A75 Gretna – Stranraer Euro-route while it is  closed at the Ram Hill Bridge near Castle Douglas for ten hours tonight Monday 29th of  February and tomorrow evening Tuesday 1st of March between 8.00pm and 6.00am.

Scotland TranServ, working on behalf of Transport Scotland are currently carrying out a programme of works on the A75 at New Ramhill Bridge located 3 miles east of Castle Douglas beginning Monday 22 February.

The work will improve the quality of the surface and waterproof the bridge deck over three days under a single lane closure and convoy system. The bridge joints will be replaced under a full closure on the evenings of Monday 29 February and Tuesday 1 March between 8.00pm and 6.00am and a local diversion will be in place.

Andy Fraser, operating company representative, Scotland TranServ said:

“It is essential that we carry out these works to improve New Ramhill Bridge as they will benefit local residents and motorists for years to come.

“We have done everything we can to plan these works in order to minimise disruption to local residents and the travelling public. However, I would urge motorists to leave plenty of time for their journeys.” Scotland TranServ is continuing to invest across Dumfries and Galloway, on behalf of Transport Scotland, to deliver this important improvement programme bringing long-term, tangible benefits to support commuters, businesses and communities across South West Scotland.

Advanced warning signs will be in place on the approach to the works to inform motorists that roadworks are taking place
