Dog Worries And Injures Sheep – Lochmaben

Police Scotland is again reminding the public about the dangers of dogs getting in amongst livestock after a report about sheep worrying at Lochmaben at the weekend. Between 1400 hours and 1430 hours hours on Sunday 22 January 2017 a call was received by police reporting that a white coloured dog was chasing sheep in a field at Lochbank, Lochmaben. The dog was accompanied by a woman, not further described. The dog appeared to be circling the sheep and chasing them. Subsequent checks by the farmer discovered an injured sheep in a hedge.

Constable Stephen Glendinning at Lockerbie said “we have not yet traced the woman and the dog responsible for this incident. The sheep in question is now back on its feet and is being monitored. We would like to hear from anyone who might be able to help us trace the dog and the woman who was with the dog. We only have a description of the dog as being a medium sized dog, white in colour. Anyone who can help should call us at Lockerbie on the 101 number. Again this is an early reminder of the dangers that dogs in fields with livestock can have, and especially at this time of year when sheep are in lamb.”
