Dumfries & Galloway Social Work Service Comes In Under Budget

Dumfries and galloway Social Work Services has achieved a £19,000 underspend on its 2014/15 budget.

This is in spite of facing a number of significant budget pressures and indications in June that the projected overspend could be £437,000.

Councillor Jim Dempster, chairman of the Social Work Services committee, said, “Protecting our most vulnerable people is a priority of our Council. The underspend achieved by the end of the financial year reflects the hard work done within the service, with invaluable help from finance colleagues, to scrutinise, control and manage expenditure while meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in our region. I would like to thank all who have worked so hard to achieve this commendable outcome.”
