DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY COUNCIL TO HOLD FACEBOOK Q&A ON COUNCIL BUDGET

Facebook Q&A on Council Budget with Council Leader

On Tuesday 11 November, Dumfries and Galloway Council will hold a Q&A Session on their Facebook page in relation to the Budget development process. The session will be the first of 3 Social Media sessions taking place in November, with Twitter playing host on 19 November and Facebook holding the 3rd session on 25 November. The session is being held from 5-6pm on the Dumfries and Galloway Council Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/#!/DumfriesGallowayCouncil?fref=ts
Our Council is having to make savings in excess of £32 million over the next 3 years. We want to hear your views on what this means to you, as a rate payer and member of our public. What can we do more efficiently? What can we stop doing altogether? How can the community work with us to meet our Council priorities and maintain Dumfries and Galloway as the natural place to Live, Learn, Work, Visit and Grow? The interactive sessions on Social Media, the first being held on 11 November, is your chance to quiz Council Leader Ronnie Nicholson on his plans for the future and debate key points in relation to the budget setting process of Dumfries and Galloway Council.
The Session is set up as an Event on the Council Facebook page and can be joined anytime up until 5pm on Tuesday 11 November. All the feedback received through the sessions will be fed back to Councillors at committee on 23 January next year.
Speaking ahead of the first Q&A session Council Leader Ronnie Nicholson said; “This is an innovative way of hearing the public’s views, and demonstrates that we are a listening Council. I would encourage anyone wishing to put a question to me to read over the budget information on the Council website and to come on with their questions. This will be the first time our Council has taken such an approach to gaining the public’s views on the Budget and I would ask that the public use the session to quiz me on anything they wish to which is budget related. I am looking forward to hearing the views of our Facebook followers right across the region.”
