DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY HOTELS AIM TO STRIKE GOLD IN EMERALD ISLE

Region’s hotels aim to strike gold on Emerald Isle

The quality of hotels in Dumfries & Galloway will be showcased to some of Ireland’s top event organisers next month as part of VisitScotland’s annual ‘Scotland in Dublin’ networking event.

Representatives from the McMillan Hotel group which includes North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer,
Cally Palace Hotel in Gatehouse of Fleet and the Fernhill Hotel in Portpatrick, will join members of the national tourism organisation’s Business Events team at Restaurant Forty One on Wednesday 11 March, when they will meet with Irish MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) agencies.

Some of Ireland’s top MICE agencies will be at the event, which will feature a presentation from VisitScotland’s Business Events team on new venues and hotels in Scotland.

While discussing what Scottish hotels have to offer Irish event organisers, those at the event will enjoy a specially tailored Scottish menu, highlighting the quality of Scottish produce in the country’s Year of Food and Drink 2015.

Caroline Lyons of VisitScotland’s Business Events team said: “The Scotland in Dublin networking evening provides the perfect opportunity for Irish event organisers to discover how easy it is to travel to the Home of Golf, to dine in royal palaces and to find out how Scotland, with its mix of strong tradition and contemporary flare, is the perfect stage for MICE events.

“We are looking forward to a hugely productive evening, which will help to put our Scottish partners in the shop window to some of Ireland’s leading event organisers.”

It is estimated that Scotland’s Business Tourism industry is worth nearly £2 billion to the Scottish economy.
