Works are now underway in the Reaching 100% (R100) Scottish Government funded programme to deliver Superfast Broadband (30 Mbps) down to all premises in Scotland.
This next phase of work builds on the success of the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband (DSSB) Programme which achieved 95% Superfast Broadband coverage of Scotland.
The project will see thousands of homes upgraded that have been identified through ScotGov’s scope of work, with 93 exchanges being in Dumfries and Galloway alone. This will bring to life the vision for Scotland to be a vibrant and outward looking digital nation. For that to happen, Scotland requires high quality, digital connectivity, particularly in our most rural communities. And building that critical infrastructure has to start now.
Morrison Telecom Services will not be an unusual sight for rural residents living in the South of Scotland given their work on the initial phase of the DSSB programme. In the past 12 months they have been completing surveys of the R100 works in this area as well. As these surveys continue we would like to encourage you all to engage with our teams out on site, ask them questions and discuss the works that are being carried out.
These surveys are targeted to the premises which are most in need of the updated service, as well as providing key information on where is best to build the new network. The surveys enable Morrison Telecom Services to gain the required level of detail to ensure an effective solution whilst maintaining the safety of everyone involved in the works, whilst paying particular attention to any environmental impact, preserving the beauty of our countryside.
