Dumfries Town Centre Community Police Officers have launched their 2020 festive safety campaign.
A Police spokesperson said “This will involve officers carrying out patrols in town and at the surrounding retail parks to deter and detect those involved in retail crime.
You can take steps to help prevent becoming the victim of crime by avoiding carrying large sums of money. Take care when using ATMs & always shield your PIN. Look out for those who may be “shoulder surfing” in an effort to obtain your PIN.
We sometimes see pick pocket type thefts at this time of the year so make sure wallets/purses are kept out of sight. Report suspicious behaviour to the Police.”
