DUMFRIES TEMPORARY POOL TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY

The temporary DG One Swimming pool at the Ice Bowl has proven to be a great success since opening last October. To date the facility has attracted over sixty two thousand customers through its doors.
Unfortunately, as part of the contract with the main supplier of the facility, Total Swimming, the facility requires to temporarily close to the public from Friday 18th September at 12.00 noon, until 7.30am on the morning of Monday 21st September, when it will re-open as normal for early swims.
The unavoidable closure is part of the routine maintenance required for the facility and inspections and checks will be completed to the frame and roof installation of the pool. Due to the need for scaffolding access and lifting platform the facility requires to close under Health & Safety grounds.
Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chairman of the Community and Customer Services Committee said “Despite this necessary maintenance, it is fantastic to hear that the temporary pool has been so successful to date. Through the provision of the swimming pool facility at Dumfries Ice Bowl we are proving our commitment to our priority of providing the best start in life for all our children, supporting them to lead healthy and active lives.
The high number of visitors through-out the summer season has proven that we are achieving this commitment, and it is in no small part down to the hard work and determination of all council staff involved that this service is continuing so effectively”.
