Firefighters Rescue Man from Crashed Bus in A76 Collision

A woman who was not trapped was taken to hospital

Firefighters rescued a man trapped in a bus after a crash in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to a road traffic collision yesterday evening (Wednesday, 6 July) on Croftmaggot Road, Holywood.

Crews were scrambled from Dumfries Fire Station shortly after 3:35pm and they arrived at the scene around nine minutes later.

On arrival at the scene firefighters confirmed both a bus and car had been involved in a collision. The bus had left the road and a man was trapped within.

Firefighters put an emergency plan in place and released him. A woman had already been released prior to their arrival and she was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The last SFRS crew left the scene at 7.34pm.
