Workington RNLI‘s Dorothy May White was alerted at around 4.30am by CGOC Belfast Coastguard that a 13m scallop boat was stuck in the Solway between Southerness and Maryport.
Silloth RNLI was also called out but attempts to free the grounded vessel at high tide were unsuccessful. A second attempt will be carried out at high tide later today, wednesday the 4th of December 2019.

A spokesperson for Workington RNLI stated “The single crewman is on board and uninjured. The Shannon class Dorothy May White has been slightly damaged and the lads are on their way back to the station and will return at around 3pm. Thanks to our colleagues at Silloth RNLI.”
