61 Year Old Man Left Distressed After Being Grabbed During Attempted Robbery

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery took place in Dumfries on Saturday 7 April 2018.

Around 9:50 PM, the victim, a 61 year old man was walking along Queen Street, Dumfries, where the incident is reported to have taken place.

Detective Constable Grant Drennan said: “The victim was returning to his car having just left the Theatre Royal in Shakespeare Street, when he was grabbed and an attempt made to rob money from him. Although uninjured, the man was left distressed by the incident.
The suspect is described as, late 20’s, approximately 6ft tall, thin build with dark hair. He was wearing dark jeans or tracksuit bottoms and a dark top.
Queen Street is residential street and it’s possible someone may have seen the suspect or heard something which may have caused them to look out of their window and see the suspect. Officers are checking CCTV in the area to identify the person responsible.”
