Kirkcudbright Woman Grabbed During Attempted Robbery

Kirkcudbright Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in the town early on  Saturday morning 13 January 2018.

Around 5.00am in the morning on Saturday the 13th of January morning, a 28 year old woman was walking along Bridge St, Kirkcudbright, near to Merse Bridge, where the incident is reported to have taken place.

Although uninjured, the woman was left very distressed by the incident.

Sergeant Graeme Robertson, Kirkcudbright Police Station, said:

The young woman had initially been with her friend and both were walking home after a party nearby. Just prior to the bridge, her friend left her to go to her home nearby, and the young woman carried on to the bridge where she was grabbed.
” Although there probably wouldn’t be many people around at this time of the morning, Bridge Street is residential and it’s possible someone heard the woman shout or something which may have caused them to look out of their window and see the suspect run off. Officers are checking CCTV in the area to identify the person responsible.
“I would also urge any persons with vehicles with dash cams in operation who were travelling through Kirkcudbright at that time also to contact police.
“If you have any information that will assist officers with their investigation, then please contact Castle Douglas Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 0828/13/01/18. Alternatively, details can be given in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
