LARGE FLOCK OF SHEEP GO MISSING – MOFFAT

Police Scotland officers at Moffat are carrying out investigations into the disappearance of a large number of sheep from Capplegill Farm, Moffat, between 15 August 2016 and the 16 August 2016.

Detective Constable Gary Duguid said “the area where the sheep could have wandered to extends to some 3,400 acres, which is a huge expanse of moorland.  At this stage we have carried out a boundary check on the fencing, and it does appear sound and stock proof.  That said we are attempting, with the help of the farmer to ensure that the sheep in question are definitely not within this area.  Earlier this year Police Scotland investigated a similar incident whereby the sheep in question were found in remote areas of the land from where they went missing.

We would like to reassure the community at this time that enquiries into this matter are underway and we are asking anyone in the area around Capplegill on the A708 road north of Moffat to get in touch if they have seen or heard anything which might help us clarify the situation regarding the sheep.
