Local Hotels Rally Round As Gatehouse Care Home Damaged In Fire

LOCAL Hotels in Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway, That were shut because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, opened their doors last night (Monday March 30th 2020), to help shelter residents from Fleet Valley Care Home, that was badly damaged in a late night fire. 

Local crews from Scottish Fire and Rescue were involved in a major operation at 11.00pm  on Monday night  to fight the a fire at Fleet Valley Care Home ,43 Fleet Street, Gatehouse of Fleet. The Care home which was on COVID-19 Lockdown to protect the residents is owned by West Coast Care and has 43 rooms. Fleet Valley Care Home specialises in caring for people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.

Local Hotels The Murray Arms, The Cally Palace and The Ship Inn, all opened their doors to take the residents in.
