Local MSP Presents Awards at Leonard Cheshire Volunteer Awards

 

Joan McAlpine joined volunteers service users and staff to celebrate Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Volunteer Awards on Saturday.

 

The South Scotland MSP presented the awards in recognition of five volunteers who assist service users in supported living services in the region.

 

Commenting Ms McAlpine said:

 

“It was a huge privilege to be invited to present the Volunteer Awards on behalf of Leonard Cheshire disability.

 

“Volunteers play such a huge role within the organisation – offering friendship and practical support to service users as well as campaigning and fundraising.

 

“It was great to hear about the difference they make in the lives of service users and to see their hard work and dedication rewarded.”

 

Awards went to:

 

  • Susan Solonyna for 10 years voluntary service with the charity’s supported living unit in Annan.
  • Bill Gill for 10 years voluntary service with the charity’s respite service in Dumfries and supported living unit in Glencaple.
  • Dan Goodwin for 10 years voluntary service with the charity’s supported living unit in Glencaple.
  • Jan Carlyle for 1 year voluntary service with the charity’s supported living unit in Annan.
  • Angus Hoban for 1 year voluntary service at the charity’s supported living unit in Glencaple.

 

Leonard Cheshire Disability is the UK’s largest voluntary sector provider of care services for disabled people providing over 40 different services in Scotland that support disabled people to live independent lives.
