Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell is calling on his constituents to name their local heroes with those lucky enough to be nominated set to be invited to the opening of the Scottish Parliament next month.

All of Holyrood’s 129 MSP’S are being asked to nominate people who make a difference to the local community and Mr Mundell wishes to hear about those being worthy of a Local Hero title.

Commenting Oliver Mundell MSP said: “I hope to hear from many of my constituents across Dumfriesshire about the people who they wish to nominate as Local Heroes for making a real difference within their communities.

“The opening of the Scottish Parliament on Saturday July 2 is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the unsung heroes across Scotland including those from here in Dumfriesshire.

“The Local Heroes will get the opportunity to see the Queen addressing MSP’s in the Holyrood Chamber as well as taking part in the Riding procession down the Royal Mile before enjoying Holyrood’s ‘Big Day Out’ which will be a fun day for all the family.

“There are people in Dumfriesshire who are making a difference every day in their communities and they deserve to have their work recognised.
