Man Jailed Following Seizure of Millions of Pounds Worth of Drugs and Cash

Gary Morris (41) has been imprisoned for nine years and four months following a trial at Glasgow High Court, where he pleaded guilty for being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

Morris was arrested after a series of warrants over six addresses in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire on Saturday, 10 July 2021. A quantity of Class A drugs with an estimated maximum value of over £5 million was recovered, in addition to around £243,000 cash.

The arrest and seizures followed a two year proactive investigation by Police Scotland’s Specialist Crime Division, looking into individuals involved in serious and organised crime and who identified Morris as a suspect.

Detective Superintendent Craig Willison, from the Specialist Crime Division, said: “Gary Morris will now rightfully have to deal with the consequences of his actions, as he prayed on the most vulnerable people within our community by coordinating the supply of drugs.
“Our officers work diligently to create a hostile environment for organised crime groups intent on causing harm and I hope this outcome shows that this kind of activity in Scotland will not be tolerated and will be acted upon.

“We encourage anyone who has concerns about drug supply or linked criminality to contact us on 101 Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
