Met Office Issues Overnight Ice Warning for Dumfries & Galloway

Icy stretches are expected to form overnight leading to difficult driving conditions on untreated roads and slippery conditions on pavements.

In addition, wintry showers will affect parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland with up to 2 cm possible over higher ground.

A colder airmass will follow Sunday’s depression across Northern Ireland and much of Scotland during the night and Monday morning. This will bring frequent showers of rain, sleet and snow, especially to western areas exposed to the strong westerly wind. Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces and also where showers wash off previously applied treatment.

In addition to icy patches up to 2 cm of snow may accumulate in places above 100 m.
