The exhibition aims to showcase the diversity of Kirkcudbright’s current artistic community, to celebrates these Modern Makers, the artists who are living, working and most importantly producing artwork in this area, carrying on the tradition of those artists of the past.

The exhibition contains a wide selection of artistic skill including but not limited to drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, printmaking, woodworking, ceramics, textiles, silversmithing and jewellery. Proudly displayed in the Mitchell Gallery, the modern makers exhibition resides under the same roof as works by E.A Hornel, Jessie M King, Charles Oppenhiemer and many other makers of the past who have been so influential in putting Kirkcudbright on the map as “The Artist Town.”
